Excellent book on spiritual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church. Dom Dysmas lends his considerable prestige as Prior General of the Carthusian Order to deal with this critical subject in a manner that reflects his deep experience in religious life and community. The leaders of the Roman Catholic Church have much to answer for, and it doesn’t help to smash the victims with the weaponized halos of its sainted perpetrators. Caveat—the social sciences should be consulted to weigh in on the problem, because institutional religion sometimes works to perpetual itself and its own intransigent dysfunctions.
